Graduates police would prefer to work in the big cities, leading to recruitment problems in many police districts on both the western and northern Norway. Deputy Head of the students in the Joint Police Federation (PF), Morten Drægni told Nationen that it is not NOK just that students are encouraged to seek out in the districts.
- It must also economic instruments to achieve this, “he says.
Drægni points out that one of the suggestions from the students in the PF is to introduce a financial compensation for students while they are out in practice in the second year.
- We believe this is a better method than the request, which can cause much frustration and irritation, “says Drægni.
Drægni will not say exactly how much this compensation should be on, but suggests that the 100,000 kroner can be a feasible amount.
Member of the Judiciary Committee Stine Renate Håheim, the Labor Party, says that she notes the police students’ desire for a financial compensation.
- I reject any suggestion that may improve recruitment in some of our police districts, “said Håheim.
Progress Party’s justice spokesman Per Sandberg says that the party has initiated a study on this issue to see what can be done to enhance recruitment to the police which has now become dangerously low in many places.
